External dependencies
Create a dependency normally, then select a block displayed in the external-file area as its parent.
External dependency arrows use dotted lines and cross the separator between files. The relationship is stored only in the main roadmap.
When an external parent changes, applicable dependency types can move the local block when the project is opened or refreshed. If the referenced block no longer exists, the invalid dependency is removed.

The example below creates a cross-file dependency. Its dotted arrow connects a block in the main roadmap to a block displayed in the external-file area.
A scheduling dependency may move local work when the external roadmap changes. Review the warning shown on the affected block.
Dotted arrows distinguish cross-file relationships from dependencies stored entirely in the main roadmap.
